Is it bad for a 14 year old and an 18 year old to go out?

Age doesn't really matter to me, but I need a few opinions. I am 14 and I like this boy round my area who is 18. I wouldn't want to do anything with him yet, and he understands that, because he's gone out with girls my age before and they ain't done anything. I just don't want people to look down on me. Help! I really like this boy!
